The fruit of a cucurbitaceous plant (Cucumis Melo) of the gourd family, having a peculiar aromatic flavor, and cultivated in many varieties, the principal sorts being the cantaloupe, of oval form and yellowish flesh, and the smaller nutmeg melon with greenish flesh.
