อนุสัญญารอตเตอร์ดัม, Example:อนุสัญญาว่าด้วยการค้าสารเคมีอันตรายที่ถูกห้ามใช้ หรือจำกัดการใช้ในระบบการค้าโลก (Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade)เป็นอนุสัญญาระหว่างประเทศ ซึ่งกำหนดข้อตกลงระหว่างประเทศในการควบคุมการนำเข้าและการส่งออกสารเคมีอันตรายที่ถูกห้ามใช้หรือจำกัดการใช้อย่างเข้มงวด และสูตรผสมของสารเคมีป้องกันกำจัดศัตรูพืชและสัตว์ที่ก่อให้เกิดอันตรายร้ายแรง ที่มีการซื้อขายระหว่างชาติ โดยประเทศผู้ผลิตหรือประเทศผู้ส่งออกสารเคมีอันตรายตามขอบเขตของอนุสัญญาดังกล่าว จะต้องแจ้งข้อมูลสารเคมีล่วงหน้าไปยังประเทศผู้นำเข้าเพื่อตอบรับก่อนจึงจะสามารถส่งออกสารเคมีอันตรายเหล่านั้นได้ จึงเป็นอนุสัญญาที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อประเทศสมาชิกในอันที่จะประเมินความเสี่ยงอันตรายจากสารเคมีก่อนการนำสารเคมีเข้ามาใช้ภายในประเทศ และยังเป็นการป้องกันมิให้มีการลักลอบทิ้งสารเคมีอันตรายที่อยู่ในระบบการค้าระดับสากล ทั้งนี้มีหน่วยงานรับผิดชอบ คือ กรมวิชาการเกษตร ในฐานะเป็น Designated National Authority (DNA) ด้านสารเคมีป้องกันกำจัดศัตรูพืช และสัตว์ ซึ่งเป็นเครือข่ายขององค์การอาหารและเกษตรแห่งสหประชาชาติ (FAO) และกรมควบคุมมลพิษ ในฐานะเป็น DNA ของสารเคมีอื่นๆ นอกเหนือจากสารเคมีป้องกันกำจัดศัตรูพืชและสัตว์ และเป็นเครือข่ายของโครงการสิ่งแวดล้อมแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNEP / IRPTC)[สิ่งแวดล้อม]
